WHY WE WALK:
Huckleberry Youth Programs is walking in support our Huckleberry Youth Health Center in San Francisco and our Teen Tuesday Health Clinic in Marin.
In partnership with the SF Dept. of Public Health and Marin Community Clinics, we provide comprehensive, age-appropriate, linguistically and culturally-sensitive healthcare to youth and young adults. And during the COVID-19 pandemic, we are providing health education services VIRTUALLY.
Huckleberry health centers in Marin and San Francisco offer youth:
1 – Primary health services
2 – Reproductive and sexual health services including gynecological exams, rapid HIV and STI testing & treatment, pregnancy testing, and birth control
3 – Huckleberry is the only youth clinic in SF providing PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) for youth under 18. PrEP is a daily pill that HIV-negative individuals can take to lower their risk of becoming infected. When taken consistently, PrEP has been shown to reduce the risk of HIV infection by up to 92%
4 – Our San Francisco health ed team conducts an HIV Prevention workshop known as HYPE (HIV Youth Prevention Education) in public schools
Registration is easy via this link https://sf.aidswalk.net/huckleberryyouthprograms! You can also fundraise for Huckleberry – 80% of funds raised by our walkers will benefit our services for youth described above.
