Join Huckleberry’s Young Professionals Board!
In 1967, Huckleberry opened its flagship program, Huckleberry House, the first runaway youth shelter in the nation, at a time when running away as a youth was considered a crime. Over fifty years later, we have grown to provide thousands of youth annually with a continuum of services that remains rooted, just as it did in 1967, in the fundamental rights of young people to be safe, healthy, educated, and treated justly.
What We Do: Huckleberry has expanded upon its youth-centered services, using a trauma-informed and restorative justice framework to collaborate with youth and families to build healthier relationships and more vibrant futures for themselves. Our services have expanded to include primary and reproductive care, counseling, case management, health education, juvenile justice diversion, and college access to underserved youth and families. Huckleberry’s longevity is a testament to the agency’s values, and our ability to adapt and innovate to meet the ever-changing needs of our community. Each year, Huckleberry hosts two major FUNdraiser along with smaller, social gatherings like Cocktails for a Cause/bar nights, trivia nights, yoga classes, exclusive dining experiences and shows/performances.
