Huckleberry Youth Programs is thrilled and grateful to announce that the Huckleberry ACE (Access to College Equity) Academy was chosen for funding in Marin County’s first ever Participatory Budgeting process!
In the fall of 2023, more than 3,600 community members in Marin County voted on how to spend $2.5 million in public funds to improve communities and advance equity.
Twenty-four nonprofit projects were on the ballot and voters were able to choose their top seven projects. Through the efforts of community voters, Huckleberry ACE Academy received a $250,000 grant over two years! THANK YOU!!!
Huckleberry Executive Director/CEO Douglas Styles (pictured with ACE Academy staff) shared his thoughts on the grant, “The Marin County Participatory Budgeting process engaged the community in determining where best to invest in building a stronger Marin County. We are very fortunate and proud to be one of the organizations included as Huckleberry’s ACE Academy is critical to developing opportunities for the success of all Marin youth. Huckleberry’s mission is to support and inspire the future of Marin’s youth, and these funds will provide a path forward in that mission.”
Huckleberry ACE Academy addresses the opportunity gap observed in low- to moderate-income youth of color by providing students with programming empowering them to graduate from high school, access and persist in post-secondary education, and develop professionally. Students in the program are among the first in their families to attend college.
We congratulate all of the nonprofits who were awarded funding through this process.
