Huckleberry is thrilled to announce that we were the recipient of a 2023 Golden Bell Community Award in Marin County!
San Rafael City Schools selected us as an Outstanding Community Partner for our work providing mental health supports in school Wellness Centers, health education workshops, and groups for Newcomer students (young people newly immigrated to the U.S.) which address the unique challenges and trauma Newcomer youth face including: border crossings, experiences of violence in one’s home country, and the complex dynamics of family integration and acculturation.
Huckleberry was recognized for being, “a pillar in the Bay Area for over 50 years and in Marin County for over 30 years. Huckleberry’s dedication and passion to serve youth is incomparable. San Rafael City Schools is proud to partner with Huckleberry Youth Programs. They have not only been a constant source for an array of supports and services, but they have also been the adolescent experts that our District and community highly respect and trust will have our students best interests in mind.”
Huckleberry’s Director of Marin Programs, Priscilla Miranda, said of the award, “Huckleberry is extremely grateful for our longstanding and collaborative partnership with our Marin schools and community. We’re honored to work alongside amazing educators and leaders in supporting Marin’s youth and families, and grateful to be part of a great network of providers that support equitable practices for all. Thank you to all at San Rafael City Schools who tirelessly work to ensure the success of youth, because when all youth succeed, our community is stronger.”
Congratulations to all the 2023 Golden Bell Honorees!
