Huckleberry Youth Programs proudly announces receipt of a $600,000 grant award over the next three years from Elevate Youth California, a program of the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS). Elevate Youth is a statewide program that prioritizes youth leadership in under-resourced communities and supports organizations, like Huckleberry, working with youth to build their power and leadership skills.
This significant and transformative investment underscores Huckleberry’s commitment to empowering transitional-aged youth (ages 18-24) of color in San Francisco.
Elevate Youth’s generous support will expand our reach and impact, championing youth leadership, civic engagement, and peer-to-peer support. Huckleberry’s funded program called, “Create-To-Activate”, engages participants at the Huckleberry Youth Health Center in producing Zines, which offer evidence-based information on harm reduction strategies for substance use prevention.
Together, Huckleberry and Elevate Youth will shift narratives and policies from punishment to prevention in an effort to empower youth, enacting positive change for a brighter, healthier tomorrow.
