We recently reconnected with Michelle, who stayed at Huckleberry House over thirty years ago when she was just 13 years old. Now a mother of three, she found security and stability at Huckleberry House when she needed it most.
“My memories of Huckleberry are nothing but positive. The staff was the best and it was my home away from home. We cooked all of our meals together. It was so welcoming and safe. I never felt judged there and not being judged is so crucial, especially when you’re young. I’m so proud to know Huckleberry House still stands and continues to provide a safe haven and light for those who have experienced the darkest places. Thank you to all who support!”
Michelle says that the community should be, “continuing to see Huckleberry House as not just a need but a necessity in our city of San Francisco. With everything going on in the world, young people need a place where they feel safe and Huckleberry is that place.”
