JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
TITLE: Senior Health Educator
DIVISION: Huckleberry Teen Health Program, San Rafael
SALARY: $16.50-$18.50/hour ($34,320 - $38,480 annually)
STATUS: Non-exempt/40 hours
SUPERVISOR: Wellness Academy Director, Marin
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of the Huckleberry Wellness Academy Director, the Senior Health Educator is responsible for helping to implement a new program that supports 15-20 youth annually to achieve academic success and enter post-secondary educational programs related to careers in the health sector. The Senior Health Educator will provide comprehensive group and individual support to youth. They will be responsible for individual academic case management, recruitment, group facilitation, parent trainings, curriculum development, community outreach, data collection, inter-agency collaboration, tutoring, and creating linkages to community resources to support the Wellness Academy.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, human/social services or similar degree preferred OR 4 yrs combined related experience and college (min 1yr working towards degree).
- 2 years minimum experience working with and relating to low-income youth, youth of color, and their families and communities
- Minimum two years experience working in direct service with youth including training and facilitating group discussions on topics related to academic achievement, employment f/job readiness, and health or/or social justice (preferably with high school youth).
- Experience in working in partnership with youth
- Demonstrated ability to be creative, innovative, and motivated (and encouraging others to do the same)
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently
- Excellent written, communication and organizational skills
- Familiarity with Marin preferred
- Criminal Justice clearance and valid CA driver’s license, clean DMV record and 2 yrs previous driving experience
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Computer literate (Internet, Word)
- Must be available for occasional early evening and some Saturday shifts
DUTIES:
- Work with the Wellness Academy Director to develop, review and revise curriculum and training modules as needed for workshops introducing youth to health careers, college readiness, job skills and peer health education
- Recruit participants for program
- Facilitate weekly meetings and occasional field trips for youth participants on pertinent health issues, health career exploration, college readiness, and professionalism
- Provide individual case management to participants to support their well-being, high school success in clinical placements and access to post-secondary educational opportunities

- Work with Wellness Academy Director to cultivate and maintain partnerships with community agencies and organizations to ensure effective service delivery and client linkages to services and opportunities including teachers, clinics, social workers, parents, school district administrators, etc.
- Work with Wellness Academy Director in connecting with a variety of health professionals to ensure positive internship placement experiences for both youth and employers
- Work with Wellness Academy Director in understanding and working towards achievement of long-term program outcomes
- Participate in weekly supervision with the Wellness Academy Director, and other program and agency meetings
- Collect data on all program activities
- Interact with all other program staff on a regular basis and facilitate program meetings as needed
- Assist with all other HTHP health education activities as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
