The Huckleberry Lioness Girls Program is a girls' leadership group headquartered at Huckleberry's Community Assessment and Referral Center.
The goal of the program is to provide girls experiencing community violence, ages 13-15, with a safe, supportive, and empowering after-school program that develops them as leaders and high achievers, and fosters positive change in their communities. Lioness Girls provides participants with tools to access their own knowledge and strength to help them navigate personal relationships, conflict, grief, anger, and oppression. The program brings in guest speakers/performers to showcase different female professionals, offering the girls a sense of what it takes to accomplish their professional aspirations, and to show them that their dreams are attainable. Lioness Girls helps young women improve on professionalism, communication, and decision making skills.
The Lioness Girls Program takes place after school from 4:15 to 6:30 pm, Mondays, Thursdays, and some Saturdays. If you or someone you know are interested in joining Huckleberry's Lioness Girls Program, please contact Lioness Leadership Specialist, Minna Dubin at 415.437.2500 ext. 240 or by email at mdubin@huckleberryyouth.org. |
